This is what a vampire novel should be。 I was hooked from beginning to end， and ooooooh the end- had me saying out loud “No way！ No friggin way！”I think 600-700 pages may be King’s sweet spot。

Hay partes de la historia que me gustaron bastante， aunque esperaba otra cosa del libro， no sé。 Este no ha sido de los libros de Stephen King que más me ha gustado。 Por un lado， siento que le sobran muchas páginas， había partes que de verdad me estaban dando sueño， porque en realidad no pasa casi nada hasta después de 250 páginas， más o menos。 He leído otros libros de él， más largos incluso， y no me daba esa sensación。 Y por el otro， hacia la última parte， cuando finalmente se pone interesante， Hay partes de la historia que me gustaron bastante， aunque esperaba otra cosa del libro， no sé。 Este no ha sido de los libros de Stephen King que más me ha gustado。 Por un lado， siento que le sobran muchas páginas， había partes que de verdad me estaban dando sueño， porque en realidad no pasa casi nada hasta después de 250 páginas， más o menos。 He leído otros libros de él， más largos incluso， y no me daba esa sensación。 Y por el otro， hacia la última parte， cuando finalmente se pone interesante， intenta alargar tanto el final， que en algún momento se vuelve desesperante。 Así que creo que este libro no fue para mí。En esta edición， vienen dos cuentos al final del libro y esos los disfruté mucho más， en especial "Jerusalem's Lot"， yo me quedaría solo con ellos， jajaja。 。。。more

I decided to revisit Salem’s Lot after 27 years and could still remember it so vividly。 This isn’t my favourite Stephen King but it was definitely the one that got me hooked。 I love how the characters develop as the sinister story unfolds。 I read the kindle edition which had the added bonus of some deleted scenes and additional material。 This story is so much more than vampires。

OkBit overblown and pompous， with a lot of dull passages about the town， among other things。 After a slightly turgid start it warms up pretty well， though the ending is messy and inconclusive， perhaps deliberately。 There was a weird mistake too when Barlow dives through the kitchen window and kills Mark’s parents: the author temporarily forgets that vampires can only go where they have been invited。 Overall quite enjoyable but not a classic。

Probably closer to 3。5/5 for me， but I rather enjoyed it。 My first King novel after reading Carrie a while back。 The town felt like a living and breathing thing， until it stopped living。。。Great read as I work through King in publication order。
